Aquaculture

From planning, training up to marketing

Aquaculture plays a significant role in eliminating hunger, promoting health and reducing poverty. This industry grows with every passing year as people consume more and more fish and as a result, the employment in this sector has grown faster than the world’s population. However, aquaculture requires more than the fisherman, and a common problem in developing countries is that most of the villagers do not possess the knowledge required to carry out intensive commercial fish farming. Jethro offers a complete solution, from market research and engineering planning to training and guidance in every step of the way up to branding and marketing.

Jethro's state of the art technology combines the best experts in every aspect of the project and proven experience to provide the best complete solution for fishery and aquaculture possible.

Aquaculture plays a significant role in eliminating hunger, promoting health and reducing poverty. This industry grows with every passing year as people consume more and more fish and as a result, the employment in this sector has grown faster than the world’s population. This sector provides jobs to tens of millions and supports the livelihoods of hundreds of millions as fish continues to be one of the most-traded food commodities worldwide. It is especially important for developing countries, sometimes worth half the total value of their traded commodities.

A common problem in the Aquaculture sector in some developing countries is that most of the villagers do not possess the knowledge required to carry out intensive commercial fish farming, consequently the production is negligible and does not meet its potential, which finally results in importation of fish in areas with large potential markets for local fish. This problem can be solved by providing the much needed guidance and information alongside the introduction of modern technology and state of the art equipment.

Large-scale commercial aquaculture requires more than the fisherman. Starting from the fingerlings production to the transportation and marketing, a whole system is required in order to supply the demands of a market in need of fresh fish.

Jethro offers a complete solution in which, like most of Jethro's projects, the farmers receive education, training and support every step of the way.  Our projects include the following steps:

  • Preliminary planning which includes: study of the local conditions, market research, feasibility assessment and engineering planning.
  • Undertaking of fingerling production and supply.
  • Establishing an approach for using reservoirs for aquaculture production.
  • Establishing storage facilities and regulating supply.
  • Exploring and optimizing production techniques.
  • Providing and supplying centers for products and services.
  • Organizing transportation.
  • Setting up a packinghouse.
  • Engaging in refrigerated transport.
  • Establishing marketing and branding.
